Portimão Museum is part of the program “Discovering Industrial Tourism”

That this year takes place between the 10th and the 16th of April

The Portimão Museum is once again part of the program of activities “Discovering Industrial Tourism”, which this year runs from 10 to 16 April, as part of the 14 Algarve partners represented in this initiative, promoted within the scope of the Portuguese Industrial Tourism Network.

In the second edition, the event will visit the Museum of Portimão and neighboring areas on the 16th of April, starting at 15 pm, in the form of a guided tour under the theme “In the Time of the Factories”, during which participants will get to know the reality industrial and social environment of a few decades ago and its relationship with the social and urban surroundings of the city.

The activity is free, but requires prior registration, and is aimed at all those interested, who will be able to enjoy «an authentic and original experience of industrial tourism, contacting products and production processes, distinct in tradition and modernity», refers to the municipality.

The “Discovery of Industrial Tourism” event is a thematic week to discover the cultural heritage and productive activities of the various regions of Portugal, offering guided visits to cork factories, salt flats, museums and exhibitions in the Algarve, with tastings in wine cellars. and olive oil mills, in addition to a trip to a rock salt mine that is 230 meters deep.

The initiative is organized by the Dynamic Group of the Portuguese Industrial Tourism Network, of which the Algarve Tourism Region is a part, and has the support of the Municipality of Portimão, through the local Museum.
