Barlavento journalist wins National Innovation in Social Communication Award

Prize was delivered in Gaia, on Friday, April 21

Journalist Maria Simiris, from the newspaper Barlavento, was the winner of the 2021 edition of the National Prize for Innovation in Social Communication 2022, promoted by the National Innovation Agency (ANI), delivered in Gaia, on Friday, April 21, at the scope of the celebrations of the Day World of Creativity and Innovation.

After RTP and Sul Informação, the Barlavento newspaper was also distinguished for journalistic works developed on projects co-financed by the Algarve Regional Program – CRESC ALGARVE 2020.

This time, “Bake My Dog Happy: a pioneering brand from the Algarve teaches how to cook a dog” was the article that guaranteed the prize.

The Algarve brand Bake My Dog Happy offers organic biscuit preparations for dogs and cats. Developed by Tiago Braga, the brand ended up winning the «Ideias em Caixa» contest, promoted by CRIA – Division of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer of the University of Alggarve, in the Agrifood category, in 2021.

The National Prize for Innovation in Social Communication is promoted within the scope of SIAC – TECH4INNOV Initiative aimed at Knowledge Transfer, co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund, within the framework of the Competitiveness and Internationalization Operational Program (COMPETE 2020), also having distinguished in the 2021 and 2022 professional editions of Exame Informática, Público, RTP and SIC.

After the award, the Directive Committee of the Regional Program of the Algarve congratulates the newspaper Barlavento and the journalist Maria Simiris for this distinction, as well as the promoting entity and other awardees, underlining the importance of these initiatives to make known the results of the application of managed European Funds in the region.
