“There is a Party in the Village” by Alte for a week

Event has initiatives for various tastes and ages

From Tuesday, April 25th, until May 1st, “Há Festa na Aldeia” in Alte, in the municipality of Loulé.

Mountain biking, trails, walks, an accordion gala, a fado night, street entertainment, a young night, traditional games, rolling carts, walks and concerts are the initiatives that form part of the programme, which can be consulted here.

«Continuing the tradition of the Week of Arts and Cultures, this year, and for the first time with the classification of “Aldeia de Portugal”, Alte will be celebrating with a vast program of cultural, gastronomic, (...), discovery of the territory , of contact with nature and with traditional knowledge and the most emblematic products», summarizes the association In Loco, one of the entities that promote this festival.

Alte is a typical Algarve village, located at the foot of Serra do Caldeirão. Known for its fountains, it maintains a well-preserved historic centre, where the buildings are whitewashed and the narrow staircases paved with Portuguese pavement. It was the 30s when he was a finalist in the contest “A Aldeia Mais Portuguesa de Portugal”.

The activities of Há Festa na Aldeia are promoted by local organizations, the community, the Alte Parish Council, the IN LOCO Association and the Aldeia Tourism Association, «protagonists and key partners in this strategy to safeguard and enhance the lifestyle of “Aldeias de Portugal”, which already mobilizes 4 villages in the Algarve: Alte, Cachopo, Serra de São Brás and Paderne».

The “Aldeias de Portugal” initiative is promoted by ATA – Associação de Turismo de Aldeia, made up of several Local Development Associations from north to south of Portugal, which have joined together, in a cooperative effort around the idea of ​​boosting the development and promotion of rural territories, safeguarding the lifestyle of Portuguese villages.
