Tertúlia – Associação Socio Cultural de Aljezur launches the first edition of the Festa das Plantas, which will take place in Aljezur this coming weekend, between the 22nd and 25th of April, taking advantage of the national holiday bridge.
The event will start on Earth Day, April 22nd, with an outdoor fair, where, in addition to the exhibition of handicrafts and local products, there will be the presence of associative projects for the protection and conservation of the floristic heritage.
The day will be filled with entertainment for kids and adults alike, offering a program with varied workshops, cinema, painting and photography.
Two other workshops that highlight plants as a construction material are the Basketry Workshop and the Organic Architecture Workshop, which use the construction of structures with cane. that will take place during the four days.
From Sunday to Tuesday, walks and visits are planned through the four parishes of Aljezur in search of the richness of the local Flora, discovering the Plants in their habitats and their importance for maintaining the quality of the landscape and for our well-being.
From Geology and Plants to Local Protected Areas, there is much to see and discover. These trips are free but subject to prior registration.
During this event, there will also be an exhibition of 10 works by photographer João Pedro Costa, which are part of his collection on trees.
«This event celebrates Flora and everything that comes from it and intends to bring people together in a sharing of walks through Nature, workshops on construction techniques with plants, conversations about landscaping and natural resources, naturopathy, handicrafts with vegetable materials, sale of plants, among others. other initiatives», explains Tertúlia.
All these activities involve players from very different areas, «highlighting the importance of Flora both in its ecological and environmental dimension, as well as in its cultural dimension, focusing on the central role that plants have and always have in our lives, guaranteeing balanced ecosystems and a fundamental part of our landscape, which is also reflected in the various practices associated with its use», adds the promoting association.
