International campaign aims to bring customers and sellers closer to the Portimão Market

First action is scheduled for May 3

The International Campaign “Love Your Local Market” will promote, during the month of May, proximity between customers and vendors at the Municipal Market of Portimão. 

Driven since 2012 by the World Union of Supply and Municipal Markets (WUWM), the campaign is coordinated in Portugal by Sociedade Installadora de Mercados Abastecedores, under the motto “I like my market”, and will explore the potential of social networks.

WUWM has more than 4 markets participating and is present in 19 countries, making the Portimão Municipal Market part of this network and promoting, for the third year, various activities throughout the month.

The first action is scheduled for the 3rd, with the inauguration of the exhibition “Os Maios”, composed of dolls produced by users of the Senior Living Center of Aldeia das Sobreiras.

On May 6th, there will be a musical show with the group Brasa Doirada, part of the “Há Noite no Mercado” initiative and scheduled for 21 pm, when various operators will have their stalls open to customers.

To mark Mother's Day, which is celebrated on this date, the Mercado da Mercado da Avenida S. João de Deus will have flowers for sale at promotional prices during operation, both day and night.

Within the scope of the “Gosto do Meu Mercado” campaign, other events will take place, such as product promotion, musical animation, showcookings and wine tastings, among other actions still to be announced.
