APAV supported close to 2022 thousand direct victims of crimes in 15

Almost 11% more than in 2021

The Portuguese Association for Victim Support (APAV) supported close to 2022 direct victims of crime in 15, with crimes against people, such as domestic violence or sexual crimes, representing 94% of registered crimes.

The association released its annual report today, with statistics for 2022, in which it refers to having carried out 83.322 calls, 25,5% more than in 2021, directly supporting 16.824 people.

«These consultations took place in the various proximity services: Victim Support Offices, Mobile Victim Support Teams, Itinerancy Service Centres, Specialized Sub-Networks and Shelters, Integrated Remote Support System and Secure Internet Line », says APAV in the report.

The association adds that it supported “a total of 14.688 direct victims of crime and violence, which represents a 10,9% increase in victims compared to the previous year”.
