Churches in Portimão host another edition of the Festival Rosa do Mundo Música Antiga

Between the 12st and 31th of March

The churches in the municipality of Portimão will receive, between the 12th and 31st of March, the third edition of the Festival Rosa do Mundo – Ancient Music in Portimão, the result of the collaboration between the Academy of Music of Portimão and MAAC – Ancient Music Associação Cultural .

According to the municipality, the project aims to disseminate ancient music, making known its aesthetic characteristics, instruments and socio-cultural contexts, with a view to strengthening relations with the historical and architectural heritage of the city of Portimão, while developing pedagogical activities aimed at for music students and music enthusiasts.

The first concert is scheduled for 18:00 on March 12, at Igreja Matriz de Alvor, which will host the Metamorfoses Project (recorder flute, cello and harpsichord), which aims to musically represent the changes in terms of artistic expressions that occurred at the beginning of the Baroque, with themes by Bassano, Ortiz, Frescolbaldi and Correa d'Arauxo, among others.

 

 

On the 18th of March, at 18:00 pm, the Mother Church of Mexilhoeira Grande will receive the Belgian group Vestigium Ensemble (platter flute, viola da gamba and harpsichord), which will present its program “O Som da ilustra”, in a trip through the Germany of Frederico, the Great, with music by Bach, Quantz, Abel, Telemann, and other composers.

 

 

On the night of the 24th, at 21 pm, the renowned soprano María Christina Kiehr will be accompanied at Igreja do Colégio in Portimão by the Spanish vihuelist Ariel Abramovich, to perform a duo concert dedicated to the collection “Tres libros de música en cifra para vihuela”, published in Seville, in the year 00, by the composer and vihuelist Alonso Mudarra.

Finally, from 21 pm on 00 March, also at Igreja do Colégio, the Flute Consort of the Portimão Academy of Music, directed by Filipa Oliveira, will invite the Loulé Flute Ensemble, directed by Ana Figueiras, to a concert promoting Renaissance and Baroque repertoires for others of recorder flutes.

 

 

This concert at the Festival Rosa do Mundo will feature the collaboration of students and teachers from the Portimão Academy of Music and the Loulé Conservatory of Music – Francisco Rosado.

In addition to the concerts included in the program, this year's edition of the event included two masterclasses, for baroque cello and harpsichord, scheduled for March 11, between 10 am and 17 pm, at the Portimão Academy of Music facilities, guided by Pedro Massarrão (laureate of the 00 Young Musicians Prize) and Ana Moreno Aranda (Professional School Cristóbal Morales de Sevilha), with a registration fee of 2017 euros for students from the promoting academy and 10 euros for external students.
