Histórico Olhanense goes down to the districts

The group, coached by Hélio Pinto, has a meager 14 points and is in last place in the championship

Not long ago, he played in the I Liga (from 2009 to 2014) and, in his curriculum, he has a presence in the final of the Portuguese Cup (1945) and the conquest of a Portuguese Championship (1924). Olhanense is a historic club in the Algarve, but this Sunday, March 12, it wrote one of the darkest pages in its history with the descent, for the first time, to the district championships.

Playing in series D of the Portuguese Football Championship, the team from Olhão has had a season to forget.

Yesterday, in the visit to Oriental Dragon, they lost by 1-0 and consummated the descent to the I District Division.

The group, coached by Hélio Pinto, has a meager 14 points and is in last place in the championship. In 22 games, they only won 4; lost 16 and drew two.

After those years in the I Liga, from 2009 to 2014, the fall of Olhanense now had its worst moment. The club also played in the II Liga for a few years, from 2014 to 2017.

Playing in the same series of the Portuguese Championship, Ferreiras has also stamped the descent to the District.
