Cortelha received hundreds to taste brandy and honey from Serra do Caldeirão

Feira da Aguardente e Mel da Cortelha took place on Saturday, March 11th

The Feira da Água e Mel da Cortelha, which takes place in the heart of Serra do Caldeirão, brought together hundreds of people last Saturday, March 11, in an event that had more than 40 exhibitors.

Early in the morning, the Pedestrian Walk, which took place on National Road 2, received more than 350 participants who traveled 10 kilometers to visit some Medronho Spirits distilleries in full production.

Meanwhile, the Pavilhão do Polidesportivo da Cortelha hosted the event, where visitors could taste roasted sausage, stewed rooster with potatoes, grain dinner, among other dishes.

In addition to the walk, mountain cuisine and handicrafts, there was entertainment through the sounds of more than 15 accordionists from the Garvefole Orchestra and the dances and songs of the Folklore Ranch “As Mondadeiras das Barrosas”. Finally, Ruben Filipe took the stage.

The Feira da Água da Cortelha had the commitment of the team of volunteers from the Associação dos Amigos da
Cortelha and aims to «promote, publicize and value two products of excellence traditionally produced in the Algarve mountains».

«Aguardente and Honey continue, even today, to be very important, both in terms of social and economic dynamics, and in terms of the tourist projection of the Algarve interior, as they are still the economic support of many families and the true symbols of rurality in the Algarve», says the association.

The organization was in charge of the Association of Friends of Cortelha, with the support of the Municipality of Loulé and the Parish Council of Salir.
