The Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests seized a 250-meter cable with 22 baited pots, intended for catching octopus, which was illegally installed in the Ria Formosa.
In addition to apprehending this illegal fishing gear in the estuary, the ICNF nature watchdogs returned the octopuses to their natural habitat.
“As the owner of the fishing gear was not identified, a report was filed against unknown persons”, according to the regional directorate of this institute.
