Maritime Police rescues man in the Arade river in Portimão

Man showed signs of hypothermia

This morning, the Portimão Maritime Police rescued a 37-year-old man who was at risk of drowning after having accidentally fallen into the Arade river. 

The man, who showed signs of hypothermia, was covered by a thermal blanket until the arrival of Lagoa Municipal Firefighters and INEM who, upon arrival at the scene, provided first aid and stabilized the victim.

After evaluation by the INEM doctor, the victim was transported to a hospital.

Members of the Maritime Police immediately went to the scene following the alert that arrived at around 1:00 am, through the District Command of Socorro Operations of Faro.

Upon arrival at the scene, the Maritime Police were able to locate the victim, despite the poor visibility, who was immobile and submerged in a muddy area, having immediately entered the water to rescue him.
