ETIC_Algarve will have “Sony Day”

The “Sony@ETIC_Algarve Day” takes place this Tuesday, February 28th, from 10 am, with masterclasses. 

This day will allow the ETIC community and all photography and video enthusiasts and professionals to attend a Masterclass given by Sony Imaging Ambassador António Morais, dedicated to the theme “Video Pro” and also get to know and try out the various equipment that Sony has available for these areas.

With two sessions, at 10:00 am and 15:00 pm, António Morais will be accompanied by technicians from Sony Portugal and Colorfoto, who will streamline the moments in which participants will be able to experience the Sony range and will be available to clarify, advise and even award special discounts to the community of photographers and videographers in the Algarve.

Biographical note of António Morais:

António Morais is Director of Photography, Photographer and Professor. Invited member of Associação de Imagem Portuguesa, Sony Independent Certified Expert (ICE), Sony Imaging Ambassador and Fujinon Ambassador, he has a Masters in Audiovisual Production and Directing at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto and a degree in Sound and Image at the Catholic University of Porto.

He also specialized in Professional Photography at the Portuguese Institute of Photography in Porto. Since 2018 he has been managing partner and Director of Photography at Golpe Filmes. Since the beginning of his academic career, he has been Director of Photography for several shooting teams in numerous short films, films, documentaries and TV programs.

He has worked in several productions in the Middle East (Jordan, Yemen, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon and Egypt). Some projects worth mentioning: television series “The Asphalt Color” for the production company Pan East Media, client Abu Dhabi TV (ADTV); documentary “Born in 48” for production company Vision, client Al Jazeera Documentary; between others.

In 2016 and 2017 he lived in London and directed the photography of the documentary series “Expats” for Al Jazeera Documentary, in England, Canada, Brazil, Norway and Australia.

Back in Portugal, he worked in multiple productions, notably the films “Baptismo de Terra”, a documentary, Brazil, 2016, which won the award for best documentary cinematography at the Hollywood Women's Film Festival 2019; “Cinzas”, short film, Portugal, 2018, which wins the award for best cinematography at Planos – Tomar Film Festival 2018.

He is part of Sony's ICE trainers platform and is also a trainer at IPF and Cineworkshops, in Porto. He teaches curricular units related to lighting and cinematography at IPP-ESMAD since 2016. He was a professor at IPB from 2009 to 2010. From 2010-2012 he taught Cinematography at the SAE Institute in Amman, Jordan.

From 2009-2014 he collaborated with UCP Porto, as a professor of curricular units related to Photography. He also has more than 10 years of teaching experience in the field of photography, lighting and Cinematography.

He taught in private and public institutions, having been part of the faculty of UCP Porto, IPP-ESMAD Vila do Conde, SAE Institute in Amã, Jordan, among others.
