The body of a 62-year-old man of Mozambican nationality was found this Sunday morning floating inside the fishing port of Olhão.

The causes of death and how it occurred are still unknown, according to the National Maritime Authority (AMN).

At 9:30 am today, AMN received an alert from “a member of the public who was in the area, reporting a body floating inside the fishing port of Olhão”.

Members of the Maritime Police of Olhão and the Lifeguard Station of Olhão, as well as members of the Portuguese Red Cross from the Delegation of Faro.

«On arrival at the site, it was found that it was the body of a man, who had been removed from the water by the crew of the Lifeguard Station of Olhão with the support of the boat “Ria Solidária”. Death was declared on the spot by the Health Delegate, and the body was transported, after contacting the Public Ministry, to the Legal Medicine Institute of Faro by elements of the Portuguese Red Cross of the Delegation of Faro», described the AMN.

The local command of the Olhão Maritime Police took care of the incident.
