Portimonense Edmundo Inácio is one of the authors and performers of the Festival da Canção

Songs and interpreters of Festival da Canção 2023 were announced by RTP this Thursday, January 19

The Portimon artist Edmundo Inácio is one of the authors and performers of this year's Festival da Canção, whose first semi-final takes place on February 25th, the second on March 4th and the grand finale on March 11th.

The songs and the respective performers were announced this Thursday, January 19, by RTP.

Edmundo Inácio, singer, composer and performer, will participate in the event with his debut single “A Festa”, theme with music of his own authorship, lyrics co-written with Brisa and production made in partnership by the artist with the renowned producer LEFT.

«When I received the call from Nuno Galopim to congratulate me on my selection at the Festival da Canção, I was extremely excited. This will be one of the big steps towards the beginning of a music career of my own. After an enriching passage through The Voice Portugal, I wanted to manifest myself beyond interpretation but also as the author of my own repertoire. I have messages that I think are relevant to communicate and nothing better than singing them», says the Algarvean.

According to the singer, “A Festa” reports the daily struggle of a new generation that intends to enter a professional industry and conquer its space in the market. What binds us is the love for the profession we embrace».

«Love will always be stronger than the desire to leave “this place”. I am very excited to step onto the RTP Stage, I bring a new Edmundo, accompanied by musicians and an environment similar to the one I will present on Stage, after the Festival. In this song I have a lute as the focus and custom-made costumes, but my complete concert will have more instruments and more passionate moments. Alternative Pop, Rock, Classical music and Soundtracks are also part of this process of creating 'A Festa' and the album that the song will precede», said Edmundo.

Recorded at Great Dane Studios, in addition to authors Edmundo Inácio, Brisa and producer LEFT. “A Festa” features guitars by José Carmo and Edmundo.

The singer also took over the keys and, in partnership with the producer, the percussions and bass. With a mix by Sassá Nascimento and mastering by Michael “Mic” Ferreira, “A Festa” will be on stage at Festival da Canção 2023 in the second semi-final, on March 4th. The song is also on Youtube.

In what will be the 57th edition of the Festival, 15 authors were invited and five were chosen through the free submission of songs, as is the case of Edmundo Inácio.

The artist joins a group composed of names like Bárbara Tinoco, Cláudia Pascoal, Ivandro, Jacinta, Teresinha Landeiro, April Ivy and André Henriques, member of the band Linda Martini, among others.

Born in Portimão, Edmundo Inácio studied music and studied fingered guitar at the conservatory, having graduated in Cinema at Coventry University, in England.

Multi-instrumentalist and self-taught producer, it took him 15 years to find his musical identity. In 2021, he participated in The Voice Portugal, reaching the final gala, having re-interpreted popular Portuguese themes.

Inspired by Portuguese, Spanish and Middle Eastern music, Edmundo Inácio is committed to respecting and modernizing his traditional roots, of which fado is a part, and which he will fuse with contemporary sounds of rock, alternative pop and electronic music.
