Loulé and APE once again reward the best chronicles by Portuguese authors

Prize has a value of 12 thousand euros

Loulé will again award a Portuguese author with 12 euros, in another edition of the APE/CM Loulé Chronicle and Dispersed Literary Grand Prize, whose application period is open until the 10th of February.

This award, launched in 2016, is promoted by the Portuguese Association of Writers and sponsored by the Câmara de Loulé and «aims to distinguish the chronicle, a genre that is still undervalued but that over the years has been gaining prominence, mainly due to the publication of texts in the press".

Portuguese authors can compete with works in Portuguese that have been published in book form and in the first edition, in 2022, in the fields of chronicles and literary dispersions gathered in volume.

The works must be sent to the jury (Rua de S. Domingos à Lapa, 17 – 1200-832 Lisbon) until the 10th of February. The three elements that make up the jury will have thirty days to deliberate, followed by the announcement of the winner. The awarding of the Grand Prize to the awarded author will take place in a ceremony integrated in the commemorative program of the Day of the Municipality, which this year takes place on the 18th of May.

The winner will receive a cash value of 12 euros.

Important names in Portuguese Literature have already won this Grand Prize, such as José Tolentino Mendonça (“What are the clouds”), Rui Cardoso Martins (Levante-se o Reu), Mário Cláudio (“A Alma Vagueante”), Pedro Mexia (“Lá Outside”), Mário de Carvalho (“What I heard in the apple barrel”) and Lídia Jorge (“Em Todos os Sentidos”). Last year, it was the turn of Portuguese-Angolan writer José Eduardo Agualusa to receive the prize, attributed to the book “O Mais Belo Fim do Mundo”.
