Naval Club Gym Faro celebrated 95 years

This year, Ginásio Clube Naval will have sport fishing – big game fishing, spearfishing and stand up paddle race

The Naval Club Gym Faro marked, last Friday, January 20th, its 95th anniversary with a dinner that took place at Hotel Eva Senses AP, in Faro.

João Godinho Marques, president of the Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro, took advantage of the moment both to publicize the work that is done by the athletes, and to envision the future.

This year, Ginásio Clube Naval will have sport fishing – big game fishing, spearfishing and stand up paddle race.

This is because «the diversification of the activities practiced and assumed in the current strategy of the club, within the sporting panorama, has been increasing, which placed on the horizon of the club a group of sportsmen who identified potential for the development of synergies with mutual benefits», said João Marques.

The night was also marked by a moment of posthumous tribute to Jorge Veríssimo, vice-president of the GCNF, by the voice of Manuel Martins, vice-president of the club's board.

With the “help” of Custódio Moreno, regional director of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ), «several sporting merit awards were given, along with many others, whether to athletes, coaches, employees and members» .

This moment ended with the signature of the respective protocol, by the president of the club, the president of the Municipality of Faro and the director of the School of Education and Communication at the University of Algarve.

José Apolinário, president of the Commission for Coordination and Regional Development of the Algarve, was also present.
