The districts of Faro and Beja are under yellow warning until next Tuesday, January 31, due to cold weather, announced the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
Both warnings came into effect at 7:07 am on Saturday, the 28th, and last until 6:00 am on Tuesday, the 31st.
In both districts, the IPMA highlights the «persistence of low values of the minimum temperature», but, in the case of the Algarve, warns «in particular» for the «interior» of the Algarve.
For this Saturday, according to Meteofontes, "teminimum temperatures around 2ºC in the interior of the Algarve, 4ºC on the South Coast and 1ºC in Alentejo».
As for Sunday, the minimum should round the same «2ºC in the interior of the Algarve», «5ºC on the South Coast and 1ºC in Alentejo».
Monday, the 30th, the values are identical.
Given the persistence of cold weather, the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) has already left recommendations, such as avoiding prolonged exposure to cold, keeping the body warm and paying attention to the most vulnerable groups, such as children and the elderly.
