Farense beat Benfica B by 5-2, in a match for the 16th round of the II Football League, played this Sunday, January 15th, at Estádio S. Luís, in Faro.

The match started lively.

In the 10th minute, Cristian Ponde put Farense ahead on the scoreboard. Abner made a cross, the ball even touched Vítor Gonçalves and the striker from the Algarve only had to pull over.

The good entry into the game could lead to believe that Farense would have an easy match. None of that: in five minutes, Benfica B scored twice and turned the score around.

The first goal was scored by Henrique Araújo, at 17', who gave the best follow-up to a Gerson cross.

The second was aimed precisely by Gerson (22 ′), in a shot at the entrance to the area where Defendi was poorly photographed.

In a first half full of goals, Farense did not give up and managed to turn the score around.

At 27', Elves Baldé tied the game again, with a great long-range shot and, at 37', Pedro Henrique again put Farense in the lead.

At halftime, the Algarve won by 3-2 and the second half was promising.

Right after the restart, Benfica B was reduced to 10, due to the expulsion of Lacroix, in the 46th minute, and Farense took the opportunity to score another one.

At 48', Ponde scored twice in the match, taking a free-kick with no chance for Samuel Soares.

The Algarve were well in the game and quickly scored again. Fabrício made an unmarked pass and Pedro Henrique, face-to-face with the opposing goalkeeper, did not miss (57').

Until the end, Farense could still have increased the advantage, but the essential was done: Vasco Faísca's team won by 5-2 and remains in 2nd place, now with 34 points, seven more than the 3rd place, which is the Amateur Star.
