Farense won by 1-0 against Nacional, in the 15th round of the II Football League, played this Saturday, January 7th, at Estádio São Luís, in Faro. After the defeat in the game with FC Porto B, the Algarve returned to triumphs and remain in 2nd place.

With Hassan Nader, one of the best players in the history of Farense, in the stands, the team from the Algarve did not start the game well. The first 10 minutes were island dominance.

At 2', Nacional could have scored, with Defendi making a good save, after a header inside the area.

Farense knew how to balance the match and had to reach the goal, in the 34th minute.

Abner crossed from the left, the ball deflected off a Nacional defender, hit the post and was left to Marco Matias who just had to touch it. The striker thus scored against his previous team.

Even before the break, the Madeira team was reduced to 10 due to the expulsion of Gustavo Silva (accumulation of yellow cards).

In the second half, at 62', Zé Manuel (Nacional) could have equalized, but the shot hit the post.

The same fate had a detour by Talocha, in the 64th minute. Belloumi took the first shot, the ball hit Talocha and Rui Encarnação, Nacional's goalkeeper, ended up saving the post.

It was a second half rich in balls to irons. Despite having one more field, Farense struggled to hold on to the advantage. At 82', Pipe Gomez shot dangerously, but the ball hit the woodwork.

With this victory, the Algarve now have 31 points and are 2nd in the II League, five points more than Académico de Viseu (3rd place).

On the next round, Farense will host Benfica B (15th, at 15:30 pm).
