Cinema: Loulé returns to “Monstrare”

There will be a premiere

Short and feature films, workshops and masterclasses. The 9th edition of Monstrare – international social cinema exhibition takes place from the 23rd to the 28th of January, in Loulé.

Monstrare kicks off on Monday, January 23rd, with two days of short films in the Loulé Secondary School auditorium.

On the first day, the presentation of “Curte a Curta” takes place, an initiative of the Secondary School of Loulé with the support of the Municipality of Loulé, integrated in the Biennale of Culture and Education of the National Plan of the Arts.

On the second day, in the evening, at Cineteatro Louletano, there will be a screening of the feature film “Nunca nada nada” by Gonçalo Galvão Teles, which recently premiered in Portuguese cinemas. The following day, Loulé director Artur Ribeiro will go to Loulé Secondary School, which was also his, for a masterclass entitled “from Loulé to Greenland”.

On Thursday, the 26th, “Dia Doc” will take place, with the screening and premiere in mainland Portugal of the documentary “A Fajã onde o tempo não mora”, by Sara Leal, which portrays the natural, material and immaterial heritage of Fajã of Santo Cristo on the island of São Jorge, Azores.

The film by Simão Cayatte, “Vadio”, will have its national premiere on the 27th, at Cineteatro Louletano. This is the story of a teenager in Alentejo who searches for his father who has suddenly disappeared.

To end the program for this initiative, on Saturday afternoon, the French film “Acusação” by Yvan Attal will be screened at Cineteatro Louletano.

Monstrare is an initiative of the Municipality of Loulé, through the Loulé Film Office, and is part of the programming of the Algarve Film Week, an initiative that brings together several cinematographic events and which has the support and partnership of Cineteatro Louletano, the sports department of the Municipality. Municipality of Loulé, publishing house Sul, Sol e Sal and schools in the municipality, namely Escola Secundária de Loulé.
