The José Pinto Contreiras House-Museum Association presents the Community Theater play “As Mulheres do Alto”, on the 28th (Saturday) and 29th of January (Sunday), at 16 pm, at its headquarters in Gorjões/Santa Bárbara de Nexe.
The play deals with the social memories of the Gorjões and is a creation and staging by Ilda Nogueira and Graça Madeira from Colectivo JAT (Janela Aberta Teatro).
Since October 2022, the José Pinto Contreiras House-Museum Association, the Parish Council of Santa Bárbara de Nexe and JAT have been developing, in partnership, a community theater experience in Gorjões.
The initiative is part of a project financed by the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, with the title «The Construction of Lugar do Alto in the Parish of Santa Bárbara de Nexe».
The community work, which brought together members of the community, starts from written memories and is reflected in bibliographic records and builds on the personal and social experiences of the participants, in a process of empowerment and cultural qualification.
