Faro awards 16 scholarships to students from the county

An investment by the municipality of 45.120 euros

The City Council of Faro approved the attribution of 16 scholarships to students from the municipality admitted by the competition jury at the last meeting, which took place on 16 December.

The grants are for the current academic year, 2022/2023, and will allow students to continue with their academic training, regardless of their economic and financial condition, which corresponds to an investment by the municipality of 45.120 euros.

The scholarships are intended for students attending secondary and higher education, residing in the municipality for more than five years and who lack the means to continue their studies.

«Aware that investment in training contributes to greater social, economic and cultural development of society, the municipality thus grants students financial support that will be granted in monthly installments, in a total of ten monthly payments, corresponding to 2/ 5 of the national minimum wage», says the City Council.

In accordance with the basic evaluation criteria – lower per capita household income, greater number of siblings studying and better academic performance – scholarships were awarded, in secondary education, to four candidates from the 10th year, two from the 11th year and two 12th grade candidates.

In higher education, six 1st year students, one 2nd year student and one 5th year student will receive grants.
