«We all have to change, to find “Other way(s)” and not focus on the comfortable and irresponsible idea of it being others who change the World and reverse the galloping march of the climate crisis, towards no return. To do otherwise is also to firmly assume the defense of difference and the rights of human beings, animals and the plant kingdom», says José Laginha, artistic director of DeVIR meetings.

The festival starts on the 14th of January with a concert by Sean Riley with The Legendary Tigerman.

The following week, “the girl does not” sings the intervention through a sweet reflection on the times we live. After having released “2 de Abril”, a tribute album to the neighborhood of the same name where he grew up, in Setúbal, “the girl” presents a social, political journey, of someone who fights with his heart and gives body, soul and voice to a project absolutely single.

On the 28th of January, he performs at CAPa Blurred Lines, a dance and music duet between Redo (winner of the Swan at Dutch Dance Days 2020) and Dominique (winner of the Dutch Music Prize 2020).

The Portuguese singer, guitarist, composer and performer, Lula Pena will also be present at the Festival on February 11th to present songs from her new album “Archivo Pittoresco”.

The Festival ends on the 25th with the show “e(u)co(m)lógica”, by José Laginha, a trilogy on social and environmental ecology, which aims to promote an urgent message – the need to (re)think ourselves with view to change.

This is the third and last part of this 8th edition of Festival Encontros do DeVIR, which reflects on the climate crisis and human rights, through reflection based on various artistic expressions.

Festival Encontros do DeVIR is organized by DeVIR/CAPa, a structure financed by the Portuguese Republic – Culture | Direcção Geral das Artes, counts on the co-production of the municipalities of Faro and Loulé and has national and international partnerships.
