Ballet “O Lago dos Cisnes” presented at Teatro das Figuras

Between the 15th and 18th of December

The ballet “O Lago dos Cisnes” will be presented at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, between the 15th and 18th of December, with sessions for the general public and schools.

Conceived by Eliana Carvalho Moreira and choreographed by Evgeniy Belyaev, Natalia Abramova, and Eliana Carvalho Moreira, the ballad will be performed by Companhia e Dança do Algarve (CDA)

The story of Swan Lake, Tchaikovsky's best-known classic, is based on the story of a prince, dominated by his mother, who, in the passage from youth to adulthood, is forced to choose a wife. However, the prince discovers the great love of his life for a
princess who, due to a spell, turns into a swan in the light of day.

In a note, Beliaev Centro Cultural explains that the version presented «is a new creation, of contemporary interpretation, being a fable about emancipation, the right to make choices of each one, which must be understood and respected».

This new creation of Swan Lake is a ballet, in 2 acts and a prologue, and tells the story of Odette and Odile, who have an unusual friendship. With completely opposite personalities, since they were children, they nurture a special affection and affection. Odette's mother, austere, demanding and controlling, rejects any kind of approach from other people to her immaculate daughter, trying to imprison her from the world that surrounds her.

Odile, in turn, with a more irreverent and daring personality, challenges Odette to enjoy life more and not let her life be controlled. However, the worst happens and Odette ends up being isolated from Odile.

The end of the friendship between the two characters happens, giving rise to a feeling of resentment, and almost revulsion, on Odile's part, because Odette did not impose herself against her mother's will.

The exhibition will have four sessions: two school sessions, which will take place on the 15th and 16th of this month, at 10:30 am, and two for the general public, on Saturday, 17th, at 21:00 pm, and on Sunday, 18th, at 18:00 pm.

Tickets can be purchased at the Teatro das Figuras box office, at Faro, or through BOL .
