ANJE wants to attract Brazilian entrepreneurs to the Algarve

Creating new possibilities for partnerships is one of the objectives of the synergy between the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE), the University of the Algarve and the Chamber of Faro

Attracting Brazilian entrepreneurs to the Algarve. This is one of the objectives of the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE), which was recently in Brazil to visit the country's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

«Brazil continues to be a destination that arouses great interest in Portuguese companies, which are present in the most diverse sectors, such as tourism, construction and public works, energy, the environment, the automotive industry and, among others, technologies of information", says ANJE, in a press release.

Creating new possibilities for partnerships is one of the objectives of the synergy between the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE) and the University of Algarve, within the scope of the RESTART project, which also includes the participation of the Chamber of Faro.

The project, financed by CRESCAlgarrve 2020, led to the visit of the Brazilian entrepreneurial ecosystem.

«The idea is to be able to put the Algarve on the radar of Brazilian entrepreneurs, as well as to intensify the bridges that make life easier for Portuguese entrepreneurs who want to invest in that market», explains ANJE.

«We were in São Paulo and Florianópolis, in a series of meetings, to learn about the dynamics of the system and establish partnerships with entities to make it easier for entrepreneurs from the Algarve to go to Brazil, as well as to make it easier for Brazilian entrepreneurs to see in the Algarve region a good option», explains Hugo Vieira, vice-president of the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs.

ANJE has, together with the University of Algarve, reinforced, through various initiatives, the incubation network in the region. The objective has been, since the beginning, to accelerate incubated companies and give entrepreneurs new tools.

Entrepreneurs in the region now have an enhanced set of skills and specific support, offering flexible incubation spaces with controlled costs, access to mentors and investors, connection to various entities, promotion between companies and the market.

With regard to this increased focus on Brazil, Hugo Barros, coordinator of CRIA, at the University of Algarve, highlights that «the entrepreneurship and technology transfer division of the University of Algarve, CRIA, has been taking on the mission of supporting the entrepreneurship and innovation, and the promotion of an effective interaction between the university and the business sector, facilitating their transfer to the market».

«Valuing the knowledge produced in academia and boosting the resulting business relationships is a priority. These new bridges are therefore fundamental», he adds.

Rogério Bacalhau, president of the City Council of Faro, stresses the importance of this type of partnership.

«Our commitment has always been to highlight the Algarve as an increasingly competitive and enterprising region. It is imperative to continue to invest in these ties because they are what allow entrepreneurs on both sides of the Atlantic to get in touch with each other's reality and also find opportunities that are sometimes scarce in domestic markets», he concludes.
