Secrets that archeologists uncovered in Balsa are the subject of a lecture

on the 8th of November

Archaeologists João Paulo Bernardes, from the University of Algarve, and Celso Candeias, from the Câmara de Tavira, are the guest speakers at the lecture “Balsa, Maritime City of Roman Lusitânia: Recent data from ongoing research”, which will take place on the 8th November, in São Brás de Alportel and in Lagoa, at 14:30 pm and 18:00 pm, respectively.

In São Brás de Alportel the session takes place at the Museu do Traje, while in Lagoa it is scheduled for the Convento de São José.

João Pedro Bernardes and Celso Candeias are two of the archaeologists responsible for the excavations that have been to unravel the secrets of the Roman city of Balsa, in the Torres d'Aires area, in Luz de Tavira.

The excavations began in 2019, under the coordination of João Pedro Bernardes, an archaeologist, researcher and professor at the University of Algarve who specializes in the Roman period in the Algarve region.

The session is promoted by the Algarve Archeology Association.
