Portimonense went to Barcelos to secure a 1-2 victory against Gil Vicente, in a match for the I Liga, played today, November 4th.

Playing at home, Gil Vicente achieved some ascendancy over the Algarve in the opening minutes of the match.

But the truth is that it was Portimonense who scored, and very early, in the 12th minute.

Following a corner, Diaby jumped higher than everyone else and put the ball in the back of the barcelenses' goal.

In the very next minute, the same Diaby could have extended the Algarve's lead, in an individual move, but he shot wide.

Gil Vicente reacted and reached the goal in the 27th minute, through Fran Navarro.

The game remained balanced, with opportunities from both sides, until the break.

The second half started with more Gil Vicente, but soon the Portimão team managed to balance and take the danger to the opposite goal.

Portimonense grew in the game and was the team that was closest to the goal.

And the Algarve would even reach the second, by Ricardo Matos, in the 78th minute, served by Rui Gomes, who scored “half” a goal in an individual play.

The 1-2 was made.

The Barcelos team was not satisfied and went in search of a tie. And they almost got it in the 88th minute, but a huge save by Kosuke, Portimonense's goalkeeper, prevented the 2-2.

Until the end, the Algarve suffered from the pressure of the gilistas, but maintained the advantage until the end.

With this result, Portimonense rises to 7th position in the I Liga championship (on condition), with 19 points, after 12 matches have been played.

Next week, on the 13th, at 18:00, in the last league game before the interruption for the World Cup in Qatar, the Portimão team will host Sporting de Braga.
