The Municipality of Olhão was one of those distinguished at the “Best Municipalities to Live” gala, promoted annually by the Institute of Behavioral Technology (INTEC), in partnership with Jornal de Notícias (JN), which took place this Thursday, November 3rd.

The conclusion is from the study “Quality of Life in the Best Cities to Live in”, developed by INTEC since 2008.

According to the municipality, the “Best Municipalities to Live in” initiative “is a barometer for assessing the quality of life in municipalities, based on the 10 domains enshrined in the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions”.

The Portuguese municipalities were evaluated in ten categories, through surveys of thousands of Portuguese, with the Municipality of Olhão in third place in the Tourism category.

Receiving the distinction on behalf of the Municipality of Olhão was councilor Ricardo Calé, who said that “it is the result of work that has been carried out over the last few years and which, naturally, is not completed”.

«Much remains to be done to improve the quality of life of the people of Olhão, but when we receive such an award, we know that we are on the right path, and that gives us the strength to continue on the path we have been following. It is a prize not only for the municipality, but for all Olhão”, he said.

In addition to the awarding of prizes, the ceremony also included the signing of the Charter for the Foundation of the National Network of Municipalities with Quality of Life.
