Álvaro de Campos' Birthday Party presents another Fernando Pessoa Marathon

This Saturday, November 12, between 12:00 and 24:00, in a broadcast by Rádio Movimento

There are 12 hours of Marathon Fernando Pessoa, with two creations made for this festival and inspired by the work of the poet, which are once again part of the Álvaro de Campos Birthday Party, this Saturday, November 12, between 12:00 and 24:00.

Organized by the Partilha Alternativa association, the Radio Movement will broadcast a broadcast that reviews the performance Amor e Medo, with poems by Campos set to songs by Sara Ribeiro with Los Negros and with contributions from pianist and composer Luís Conceição.

The Marathon also presents a new creation, “Pousa um Momento”, in which actor João Garcia Miguel shows the views of Fernando Pessoa and Álvaro de Campos on nature, to the sound of the song “O Silêncio e as Pedras”, by Luís Tinoco , against the backdrop of the sculpture “A carobeira”, by Tito Chambinho, planted on the banks of the Ria Formosa.

Tomorrow, Saturday, at 11:00 am, the film “The Year of the Death of Ricardo Reis”, by João Botelho, will be screened at Cinema NOS, in Tavira Plaza. Reservations can be made by emailing [email protected].

On Sunday, 13th, at 18:30 pm, Luís Conceição offers a new reading of the theme “The Mad Fiddler”, paying tribute to the violin and violinists.

For this concert, which takes place at Clube de Tavira, the pianist presents a mixed repertoire of songs inspired by folklore, especially Irish, as well as some classical music. The piano is accompanied by Jan Pipal on violin.

On Monday, 14th, the Casa das Artes de Tavira welcomes, at 18:30 pm, students from Tavira Schools for the opening of the exhibition of poetic choices in visual arts.

Continuing and closing the tribute to José Saramago in his centenary year, actor Vítor Correia will also present the result of the poetic staging workshop, based on excerpts from the work O Ano da Morte by Ricardo Reis, compiled by professor Ana Cristina Matias.

«The number of students participating has been growing to such an extent that this year they had to do some exhibitions in their own schools, in addition to those at the Casa das Artes in Tavira. This growth in school participation is one of the factors that encourages us to continue to develop the Festival. The appropriation, by young students, of the character Álvaro de Campos as an intangible heritage belonging to Tavira, as a direct legacy of its creator, the poet Fernando Pessoa, is what will guarantee the future of this initiative as an integral part of the cultural life of the city», he said. Lion screen to Sul Informação.

On the 19th of November, at 18:30, Fado and the Portuguese Soul head to Igreja da Misericórdia

Along with a selection of well-known fados, composed for poems by Fernando Pessoa, Fado Com História will feature composers and singers from the Algarve, who also composed for poems by Fernando Pessoa, in addition to their own poems.

Reservations can be made to the email [email protected] or contact 966 620 877.

Álvaro de Campos' Birthday Party started on the 15th of October and ends on the 30th of November.
