Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes hosts book presentation and flute and piano recital

At the end of November

Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, in Portimão, will host, on the last weekend of November, the presentation of the book “Seria?”, by Joana Aires Gomes, and a flute and piano recital, by Maria João Cerol and João Louis Rose.

The presentation of the book will take place on the 26th of November, starting at 17 pm.

Joana Aires Gomes, born in 1990, holds a Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of the Algarve and took on the challenge of rescuing her writing habits following the first confinement due to Covid-19, a time in which she situates the narrative of this book by premiere, whose action unfolds in the city of Fronteira.

On Sunday the 27th, starting at 16 pm, it will be the turn of Maria João Cerol and João Luís Rosa to perform at Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes compositions by renowned authors, such as Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (Sonata in Sol M, Allegretto and Rondo Presto), Claude Debussy (Syrinx), Carl Reinecke (Ballade, Op. 00 and Adagio – Allegro, Antonio Joze Croner (Schottishe) and Antonio Vivaldi (Concerto Op. 288, Nº 44, for Piccolo, Allegro Largo and Allegro molto ).

Born in Lagos in 1973, Maria João Cerol studied at the School of Music of the National Conservatory of Lisbon, and since 2018 has been a teacher of Transversal Flute (Integrated Teaching) at Escola EB 2, 3 José Buísel, belonging to the Manuel Teixeira Gomes School Group , from Portimao.

Graduated in Musical Sciences (FCSH – UNL), and in Music – Teaching, Area of ​​Specific Training in Singing and Instrument – ​​Main Instrument: Transversal Flute (Professionalization), at the University of Évora, she is a performer and professor at the Sociedade Filarmónica Lacobrigense 1º de Maio, in addition to being a member of the Orquestra de Sopros do Algarve.

Pianist João Luís Rosa, her husband, was born in 1973 in the city of Lisbon, where he studied at the National Conservatory's School of Music, integrated in the Piano class of professor Olga Prats and, later, of professor Miguel Henriques.

In 2008 he recorded the cd "Contemporary Portuguese music for piano - three Algarve composers" for Editora Numérica, with works by Joaquim Galvão, Cristóvão Silva and Tiago Cutileiro, having been a professor at the Academia de Música de Lagos and at the Conservatório de Portimão - Joly Braga Saints. Since 2018 he has taught Piano at the Lagos Conservatory of Music and Arts and at the Portimão Music Academy.
