Mayors and Political Commissioners of the Algarve PAN resign en bloc

«The minimum conditions are not guaranteed so that we can remain in the Political Commission, recently elected», defends Alexandre Pereira

The A List, winner of the last electoral act that elected the District Political Commission of PAN in Algarve, resigned from the body.

Among the resigning members are all the mayors currently serving in the respective municipal and parish assemblies: Daniela Duarte and Ricardo Cândido, from Portimão, Ana Poeta, from Loulé, Paulo Baptista and Elza Cunha, from Faro, Alexandre Pereira, from Olhão, Maria João Sacadura, candidate for Lagos in the last municipal elections, César Valente, Mariana Oliveira and João Lelo.

against constant irregularities that marked the entire electoral process, Alexandre Pereira says that «the minimum
conditions so that we can remain in the newly elected Political Commission».

«Taking into account the instrumentalization and manipulation of affiliates and the numerous irregularities committed by some elements of the B list, the electoral process was anything but democratic and egalitarian, with a clear use of the ineffectiveness of the party leadership in preventing all these events. We thus mark our position, in the face of the seriousness of events. We are elected to serve the causes of the PAN and right now we feel that there are people using the PAN for their personal goals and that is unacceptable!», reinforces Maria João Sacadura.

The commissioners, who have now resigned, point out as reasons for the resignation of the mandate the abusive use of private information of the affiliates, in violation of the General Data Protection Regulation, for the elaboration of lists and manipulation of propaganda, the undue use of official channels of communication of the party and usurpation of the function of commissioners, enlistment of family members of the first, second and third degree and other degrees of kinship with the sole purpose of increasing the number of votes in the elections, various administrative irregularities such as failure to deliver the complete and duly completed list and signed, a boycott of local elected officials, preventing adequate disclosure of their activities and interventions, and internal work became hostile and unsustainable.

According to Elza Cunha, «all situations were reported to the National Political Commission (CPN) and the Permanent Political Commission of the party, as well as to the Legal Action Department and the National Jurisdiction Council, in the case of situations that constitute a crime under the Portuguese and Community law, namely, the abusive use of personal data of affiliates and affiliates in the Algarve».

In a note sent to the editorial office, the support and advice of the “Lista A” team refers that only after the last information to the press, the party leadership communicated the establishment of a commission of inquiry to investigate the facts and assign responsibilities, but still nothing it happened.

«Despite everything, we will continue our municipal work with the support and advice of the “Lista A” team, whose elements have already demonstrated an immense and consistent capacity for work, and include valences in the most diverse areas. With pride and a sense of responsibility, we will continue to give voice to the legitimate will expressed by the thousands of voters who have placed their trust in us. We remain united in the conviction that the PAN is much more than this», concluded Paulo Baptista.
