Mayor of Mozambique visits Olhão to “learn about good practices in fishing and aquaculture”

Ismail Lahira Abacar Chacupa, mayor of the Municipality of Mozambique, visited Olhão on the 31st of October to learn about “the good practices carried out in Olhão, especially in the fields of fishing and aquaculture”. 

After being received at the City Hall, the delegation began the tour with a visit to the Municipal Markets, “an example of requalification and operation that the Mozambican local authorities want to see replicated in the city of the Island”, says the municipality of Olhão in a note.

The itinerary also included a visit to Necton, where the delegation had the opportunity to exchange views on the sector of traditional sea salt extraction, and, once again, this knowledge was taken to Mozambique, where it will be applied in the reactivation of a group of salt pans. whose work is stopped.

At the end, there was a meeting with the fisheries and aquaculture sector, which brought together those responsible for the Mozambican municipality, its counterpart in Olhão, Olhãopesca – Organization of Fisheries Producers of the Algarve and the Cooperativa de Viveiristas da Ria Formosa.
