Associação Odiana marks São Martinho with a walk and socializing in Azinhal

With the elderly participants of the “Volta ao Monte” project

The Odiana association, in partnership with the Municipality of Castro Marim, marked Saint Martin's Day, on November 11, in Azinhal, with a walk and socializing with the elderly participants of the “Volta ao Monte” project.

The program included two walks, one of short and the other of medium length, along the pedestrian paths of the town of Azinhal, followed by lunch with the seal of the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Vila Real de Santo António, and, to finish, a performance with Mito Algarvio – Association of Accordionists of the Algarve.

This is the 2nd edition of the Passeio e Convívio de São Martinho, with a view to alleviating the physical and mental inactivity and social isolation of the elderly, stimulating collective initiatives for socializing and entertainment. The initiative brought together a total of 42 senior participants/beneficiaries of the project.

Remember that this project aims to contribute to the quality of life of the elderly, and promotes, until April 2023, regular walks in the mountainous interior of the municipality of Castro Marim, in the localities of Alta Mora, Furnazinhas and Azinhal.

In March of this year, the project won second place in the «2022 Algarve Active Aging Best Practices Award».

«Volta ao Monte» has a partnership with the Municipality of Castro Marim, as a social investor, being co-financed within the scope of the Partnership Program for the Impact of Portugal Social Innovation, under the Community funds of CRESC Algarve 2020.
