This Wednesday, November 30th

The Municipality of Albufeira will celebrate this Wednesday, November 30th, the International Day of the Educating City with painting, sand art and white doves.

As part of the commemoration, an exhibition of a mural created by students from a school in the county will be inaugurated, to be displayed until the 9th of December in the atrium of the Town Hall building.

On this day, at 17 pm, there will also be, in the Town Hall building, a representation of a dance alluding to the theme by the SOUL Association and the release of white doves by the Albufeira Columbóphile Society, weather conditions permitting.

On Maria Luísa beach, the artist Vítor Raposo will make a work in the sand, alluding to the day, entitled “The Art that the sea erases”.

The Municipality of Albufeira has been a member of the Portuguese Territorial Network of Educating Cities since 2007.

José Carlos Rolo, mayor of the City Council, states that he has increasingly invested in the development of the “Educating City” concept and considers that «the development and commitment of Albufeira as an Educating City is an action that has become a priority for us and Proof of this is the development of the public network to support formal education in the municipality, which includes schools, kindergartens, libraries, ATL spaces, traffic school, components and support offices for families and youth».

The mayor also emphasizes that «Albufeira also works in sports and cultural associations, with great potential for non-formal education found in these means».
