Kayak Polo Portuguese Cup is played for the first time in Portimão

The games are played in 5 against 5, in two halves of 10 minutes each, and are controlled by two referees, one on each side of the playing area.

The Portuguese Kayak Polo Cup will be played over the weekend, from the 29th to the 30th of October, for the first time in Portimão.

The clubs present in the Portuguese Cup are Clube Kayak Polo Barra Oeiras, Clube Fluvial de Coimbra, Clube Canoagem de Setúbal, Associação Náutica do Seixal and Clube Naval de Portimão.

At the absolute level, the Coimbra club has three teams, CKPB Oeiras with two, Setúbal and Seixal with one team each.

Clube Fluvial de Coimbra intends to defend the title won in 2019, the last year in which there was a Portuguese Cup, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the under-16 level, there are two teams from Portimão, one from Coimbra and one from CKPB Oeiras.

The games will take place next to the headquarters of the Clube Naval de Portimão. On Saturday, there will be games from 9:00 am to 18:00 pm and on Sunday from 9:00 am to 16:00 pm approximately, with free admission.

Kayak Polo is a collective contact sport game that has been played all over the world for over 30 years.

The objective of the game, as in most team sports games, is to score goals in the opposing goal, which is suspended 2 meters above the surface of the water.

The games are played in 5 against 5, in two halves of 10 minutes each, and are controlled by two referees, one on each side of the playing area.
