Importance of urban cleaning will be under debate at a national meeting in Loulé

The event will feature international experts

Dozens of international and national experts will help discuss the state of cleanliness in cities during the IV National Urban Cleaning Meeting, which will take place on the 3rd and 4th of November, at the Ria Park Hotel & Spa, in Almancil, Loulé.

Stephen Goldsmith, professor at Harvard Kennedy School, Nejc Jus, head of research from the World Travel and Tourism Council, and Sophie Leguil, founder of the More than Weeds project (UK) are some of the international speakers who will be present.

The event will also be attended by João Galamba, Secretary of State for the Environment and Energy, Vítor Aleixo, Mayor of Loulé and Alexandra Carvalho, Secretary General for the Environment.

The meeting, organized by the Urban Cleaning Association – Partnership for Smarter and Sustainable Cities (ALU) will bring together around 40 national and international speakers.

«To demonstrate the importance of the state of urban cleaning as an asset of cities, taking into account that urban cleaning has an impact on the ability to attract business (from multinationals to business centers) and other activities, to attract tourism, to maintain permanent inhabitants and happy, is the main objective of this event», according to the organizers.

During the IV National Meeting on Urban Cleaning, "the financing opportunities of national legislation for Urban Cleaning and waste", "the news arising from the Single-Use Plastics (SUP) directive, namely the preparation of management entity» and «strategies to end abandoned waste and good practices for raising awareness and mobilizing the population».

“The debate promises to be particularly intense around the roundtables dedicated to cleaning herbs and the use of wastewater for urban cleaning”, concludes the ALU.
