Loulé Hospital will mark World Breast Cancer Day, 19 October, with a gathering and public presentation of the Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Consultation – Breast Unit, at 19:00 pm, at Palácio Gama Lobo.
The action is open to the public.
According to Grupo Hospital de Loulé, the idea is that this is «a moment of clarification of doubts, in a holistic view of the person - not seeing him only as a patient - and counts, for that, with the participation of several specialist doctors that integrate the new structure".
According to the head of the Oncology unit at Hospital de Loulé Raquel Dionísio, the pink meeting aims to be a moment of «relaxed interaction» with the clinicians of the hospital unit, where they will talk about «prevention, diagnosis, clinical remission in an open conversation» and frank about what breast cancer is.
«There are no scripts, there is no presentation, there are no slides, it will be a preserve with us and whoever wants to join the conversation, ask questions and clear up doubts. We are there for that”, says the doctor.
This will also be an opportunity to present the breast cancer multidisciplinary consultation – Breast Unit, introducing the clinicians who are part of it, in a conversation that, according to the specialist, «makes everything more personal».
This type of clinical approach brings together several specialties – senology, oncology, plastic surgery, imaging, pathology, psychology, nutrition and physiotherapy – creating the possibility for everyone to «define the patient's therapeutic approach».
“We discussed the case and all decisions that are made regarding that patient are made together. It is an asset for the patient, who is treated by a multidisciplinary team, for us doctors, who share knowledge and other points of view», highlights Raquel Dionísio.
