Feira de Santa Iria returns, from the 14th to the 23rd of October, to Largo de São Francisco, in Faro. This year, there are news, such as a new stage with popular music.

Fairgrounds, partners and operators make an event increasingly full of gastronomic offer, clothing, handicrafts, car and alternative mobility, toys and amusements for kids and adults.

Feira de Santa Iria is also a good opportunity for associations, entities and institutions from the most diverse non-profit areas to promote their program and activities.

In this sense, the municipal company Ambifaro, organizer of the Fair, created, this year, a Pavilion of Entities.

In addition, the enclosure will have new porticos.

However, this year, the big surprise is reserved for the biggest protagonist in so many centuries of existence: Santa Iria de Nabância. Debuting a new image that seeks it, this year's event will be marked by the memorial ceremony to be held on the day of the martyr's death – the 20th of October.

This initiative has as its starting point the Igreja da Misericórdia de Faro where, at 16:30 pm, Canon Rui Barros, parish priest of Sé and São Luís and president of the General Assembly of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Faro (SCMF), will celebrate a solemn mass in honor of the patron saint of the fair and in the presence of her image, of high heritage value.

After the manifestation of faith, the organization of the Fair, in conjunction with the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Faro (SCMF) and the Division of Museums and Restoration of the City Council, will move the sculptural piece to the Entities Pavilion of the fair, where it will be made known to popular, fair and curious people of the arts and heritage, from 18:30.

This will be a moment marked by the interventions of Marco Lopes, director of the Municipal Museum of Faro, who will talk about the high historical and artistic value of the play, and the rector of the Episcopal Seminary, Father António Freitas, who will evoke the life
of Iria de Nabancia.

The piece, which was provided by SCMF, will remain until the end of the day for exhibition at the fair, returning to its place of origin at closing time.

As usual, the car park at Pontinha will be free during the fair's days.

The organization is by Ambifaro and the Municipality of Faro and counts on various supports, such as the União das Freguesias de Faro, the Firefighters of Faro, the Holy House of Mercy of Faro and the Episcopal Seminary.
