Algarve Football Association awarded Medal of Honor for Sporting Merit

The Algarve Football Association (AFA) was awarded, last Sunday, October 16, during the centenary gala, with a Medal of Honor for Sporting Merit. 

Secretary of State João Paulo Correia awarded the AFA the diploma and medal for the services provided in favor of national sport and for the continuity or repetition of relevant actions or facts honoring national sport and the name of the country.

The event also featured Reinaldo Teixeira, President of the AFA Board, Custódio Moreno, Regional Director of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, José Apolinário, President of the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission, João Fernandes, President of the Tourism Region of Algarve, several representatives of the executives and presidents of the Municipal Councils of the Algarve, Fernando Gomes, president of the Board of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), representatives of Liga Portugal and the University of Algarve, Alves Caetano, president of the AFA General Assembly Board , other members of the Board, representatives of the District and Regional Football Associations, among other relevant public entities, in addition to members of the Governing Bodies and various sports agents from all clubs and affiliated referee groups.

Also present were deputies of the Assembly of the Republic elected by the Algarve, Ambassador José do Amaral Souza Neto, Consul General of Brazil in Faro, and members of the Consular Corps accredited in the Algarve, presidents of the main business associations in the Algarve, president of the FPF Arbitration Board, many FPF class members and presidents and representatives of other District and Regional Football Associations in the country and of the various associations of sports in the Algarve.
