TASA promotes open chair stuffing workshop

Learning takes place in an open workshop model, in Loulé, on a date and time to be agreed with the participant

Restoring the seat of a traditional Algarve chair, made with plank from the river, is increasingly difficult to achieve. This ancient craft is in danger of disappearing, like others, and few artisans still practice it.

Therefore, the open workshop promoted by the TASA Project – Ancestral Techniques Current Solutions – is a way to support the transmission of this knowledge and appreciation of a sustainable practice.

Anyone can learn the traditional technique of stuffing with a plank, while recovering a chair or bench for a few more decades of useful life.

Learning takes place in an open workshop model, in Loulé, on a date and time to be agreed with the participant. Includes an introductory workshop and a ceiling of hours to carry out the work under the supervision of the master until the chair is ready.

Conditions:

– The wooden structure of the chair/bench to be restored must be in good condition (if you want to repair the wooden part, we will make a separate quote for this service);

– The estimated number of hours to stuff a 35 x 35 cm seat approx. is 14 hours;

– A workshop of 4 consecutive hours must be scheduled to learn the technique. The remaining 10 hours will work in an open workshop mode with the supervision of the master (time to be agreed upon availability of the artisan).

– At the end, you can take a board to restore another seat at home, for an extra fee.

Price: 115,00 €
