“Heritage in the moonlight” reveals Rocha da Pena on a walk

This Saturday, September 10th

The “Moonlight Heritage” initiative continues this Saturday, September 10, at 21:30 pm, this time with a night visit and geological walk to Rocha da Pena, in the municipality of Loulé.

Through this activity, participants will get to know the stories that this natural monument has to tell, at the same time as they will undertake a 5 kilometer walk (medium difficulty).

The meeting will be at Fonte dos Amuados (Bar das Grutas) and registration is free and mandatory through [email protected].

«Classified as a Local Protected Landscape, Rocha da Pena presents a remarkable topographical silhouette of the Aspirante Geopark landscape with its plateau culminating at an altitude of about 480 meters and its cornice of about 2 km in length, steeped in limestone from the Jurassic . Located in the transition between the Serra and the Barrocal, Rocha da Pena, with its karst relief preserved over time, reveals itself as a geomonument of recognized multidisciplinary interest, both from the point of view of its geodiversity and its biodiversity», explains the Loulé Chamber in a note sent to newsrooms.
