Police protest in Praia da Rocha and ask for salary increase and career dignification

The Union Association of Police Professionals (ASPP/PSP) will carry out this Thursday, August 25, another initiative to raise awareness and protest, with the delivery of leaflets to tourists and populations, between 10:00 am and 12:30 pm, in Praia da Rocha, in Portimão.

In this protest, the police officers intend to «enlighten those who visit us that Portugal is still a safe country, at the expense of the effort, sense of responsibility and extra work of the police and not for the reason of correct policies in the area of ​​security», reads the statement. note published on the official website.

«We will try to clarify, again, because, with each passing day, the PSP becomes an institution with more problems, more aged and the police officers less dignified, less recognized and with more constraints», continues the note.

The PSP defends greater attractiveness, changes in the pay scale, compliance with professional statutes, operational health, better working conditions and greater dignification of the profession.

«We don't want charitable policies, we don't want extra work without compensation, we don't want cosmetic operations or communication campaigns, we don't want to confuse populations. We want concrete answers to the problems that affect us», concludes the union in a note.
