Children and young people from four districts of Portimão, aged between 6 and 16, are having a summer vacation full of free activities offered by the Municipality's Community Centers.
«Among the various activities promoted by the community intervention technicians of the municipality, children and young people have the possibility to go to the beach, go for walks, visit theme parks and participate in games and games», according to the Portimão Chamber.
The objective of this program is to «promote multiculturalism and equal opportunities for all social strata, contributing in a playful-pedagogical way to the integral development of recipients, who are encouraged to discover their abilities and potential, while transmitting and share the knowledge acquired in the environment that surrounds them».
This offer is being made available by the existing centers in Coca Maravilhas, Cruz da Parteira, Cardosas and Pontal.
«With yet another initiative, the four Community Centers of Portimão reinforce the important role played within the populations residing in each neighborhood, by welcoming the little ones with safety and quality during school holidays, thus responding to the need to occupy their free time and avoiding risky behavior while parents are at work", added the municipality.
The initiatives take place from Monday to Friday and have an average attendance of 20 to 25 children in each centre, with greater expression at the Cruz da Mideira Community Center, a structure that has the collaboration of the (Re)Viver no Meu Bairro Project, «which this year has as a novelty the creation of the multimedia studio related to the “PorTiArtista” project, following the partnership established with Associação Dança Mais».
«Since the beginning of the year, the innovative project “PorTiArtista” has given voice to the children and young people of this municipal district, having arisen from the felt need to bet on their skills and musical potential, for which technical conditions were created in order to feed the dreams artists of this socially disadvantaged group, at the same time that deviant behavior is prevented and civic participation is stimulated», frames the Chamber.
