The MED ended this Sunday, July 3rd, in what was a «strong return» of the festival to the streets of the Historic Center of Loulé, which made this one of the editions «with the greatest influx of public ever».

In statements to the Sul Informação, Carlos Carmo, director of the festival, considered that people «were anxious» for the return from med, which also helped the good affluence data.

Although there are still no "closed numbers", the councilor of the Loulé Chamber said that the turnout was "increasing", ending with a Saturday (Sunday was open day) in which "we were close to having to close the ticket office, with nearly 10 people at the venue».

World music, which despite other aspects, such as cinema, art or street entertainment, are the main ingredient of MED, once again invaded the Historic Center of the city, with concerts for all tastes.

The performances by Maro, winner of the Song Festival, on Saturday, on the Cerca Stage, were one of the most popular, but there were also other «floods», for example with Chico Trujillo (Chile), on the Matriz Stage.

Carlos Carmo also highlights the concerts of Turbulence (Jamaica), on Friday, or Rodrigo Cuevas (Spain), on Saturday, and Johnny Hooker, on Friday.

This year, MED started with an Algarve band – Plasticine – and ended with another band from the region: Sylva Drums.

For the next edition, the festival director assured that «there are always issues to be refined».

«Everything will be discussed at our balance sheet meeting for this edition. In an event of this magnitude, it is normal that there are always small changes”, he concluded.
