The Chamber of Castro Marim is already guaranteeing the Extra-Curricular Activities, which, in March 2022, were still lacking, through the provision of technicians from the municipality. This responsibility was transferred to the municipality, with the transfer of competences in the area of Education to the local authorities, since 1 April.
According to the Chamber of Castro Marim, activities of physical-motor expression, Art and Environment and even Music are ensured.
«This educational offer promoted by the municipality, illustrates the commitment assumed since always with education, with a view to improving and promoting greater success in the development of students», highlights the Municipality, which is not happy with the process of transferring skills.
«Although the State has determined the transfer of the school building to the Municipality, there is no provision for any transfer of funds with regard to the construction, requalification and modernization of school buildings, which represents a matter of great sensitivity to Castro Marim, given the great structural problems of the school park», he exemplifies.
Filomenta Sintra underlines that «in partnership with the Group, we seek to improve the provision of educational services in our community every day, but we leave the reservation that we will fight for a fairer system, as we understand that it should not be the Municipality to suppress the shortcomings of the State”.
At the same time, the Municipality of Castro Marim recalls that it «continues to develop the Active Holidays program and to support the group in the development of activities outside the school space, as well as guaranteeing school transport and working on a sustainable school feeding program , which values natural, unprocessed products and preferably from local circuits».
Among the tasks in the area of education undertaken by the Câmara de Castro Marim are the educational letter, the school transport plan, the acquisition of school building equipment, the carrying out of conservation, maintenance and minor repairs in pre-school education establishments. -school and basic and secondary education, for which around 10 thousand euros are transferred per year, school social action, management of the provision of meals in school cafeterias of pre-school education establishments and basic and secondary education, the organization and control of the functioning of school transport in the students' area of residence, the promotion and implementation of family support measures that guarantee full-time schooling, the recruitment and selection of non-teaching staff to perform functions in school clusters and non-grouped schools of the Ministry of Education's public school network, the contracting of essential external supplies and services s the normal functioning of educational establishments, namely electricity, fuel, water, other fluids and communications and the management of the use of spaces that make up the school establishments, outside the period of school activities, including curriculum enrichment activities.
