MOJU de Olhão joined DECO Algarve in the fight against food waste

Within the scope of the project “Save and organize so that food is not wasted”

MOJU – Associação Movimento Juvenil em Olhão and DECO Algarve – Associação Portuguesa para a Defesa do Consumidor promoted an awareness-raising session on the topic of food waste in the premises of the Bairro Office, in Olhão, as part of the project “Saving and organizing for food not to waste”.

According to DECO Algarve, losses related to food waste represent a strong environmental, economic and social impact, «so it is essential to identify the causes and develop mechanisms to mitigate this problem».

«It was in this sense that the Gabinete de Bairro team accepted the challenge launched by DECO Algarve to promote awareness sessions to help consumers make better consumption choices, enabling them to make more responsible and conscious decision-making , from an economic and environmental point of view», reveals the association from Olhão.

 

 

 

The session featured «moments of learning, sharing and, above all, with many tricks and tips to reduce food waste».

The Neighborhood Office is operating in a space provided by the Municipality of Olhão, in the Fundo Fomento à Habitação neighborhood, and is completely free of charge for users. This is one of the activities of the Bairro Cool Project, which is being implemented within the scope of the Healthy Neighborhoods Program.

The Healthy Neighborhoods Program is a public program, of a participatory nature, to improve health conditions, well-being and quality of life in vulnerable territories, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund - European Union, the Environmental Fund and the Ministry of Health. .
