Faro celebrates the love of markets on the 21st of May

Municipal Market of Faro will host the “Gosto do Meu Mercado” initiative

Faro is one of the municipalities in Portugal that will celebrate the love for local markets this Saturday, May 21, at 10:00 am.

The Municipal Market of Faro will thus host the “Gosto do Meu Mercado” initiative, coordinated in Portugal by the Sociedade Instaladora de Mercados Abastecedores (SIMAB) to support proximity trade and promote agri-food wholesale and retail markets in 19 countries.

«The Municipal Market and the Municipality itself are enthusiastically associated with the initiative, which is in line with its purpose of boosting the activity of the municipality's markets, showing consumers the wide advantages they have in purchasing products in this type of commerce, many of them of local origin", says Ambifaro in a statement.

On the 21st, the market will host various activities that propose interaction with visitors and operators, and will also host the Banda da Armada Clarinet Quartet to mark the navy day, which this year is celebrated in Faro.

The initiative will be attended by Paulo Santos, vice president of the local authority, Henrique Gomes, president of the Board of Directors of Ambifaro, João Tiago Carapau, Corporate General Manager of SIMAB, and Nuno Eva Ferreira, Commercial Director of the South Zone of SIMAB and MARÉ de Évora and MARF de Faro.

The “Taste of My Market” event has been held since 2012 by the World Union of Supply Markets (WUWM), in what is considered the world market month, May.

This year, for the first time, Portugal welcomed the initiative that, in addition to Faro, also takes place in Lisbon and Braga.
