PSD deputies, elected by the Algarve, asked the Government to fulfill the “promises made” and not leave farmers, affected by the drought, without the promised support.

“As if the extension of the drought were not enough, for which the Government did not present innovative measures, those announced were not implemented. There is no support on the ground”, defends deputy Rui Cristina.

«The measures to create and reinforce credit lines, and even the possibility of advancing the payment of aid due to drought, for April and May, appear as propaganda, when the real budget of support is 3 million euros, a value derisory given the identified needs», he adds.

The Algarve is, moreover, one of the regions that is feeling the effects of the drought the most, despite little relief.

In view of this scenario, the Algarve parliamentarians Luís Gomes, Rui Cristina and Ofélia Ramos (PSD) demand, from the Minister of Agriculture, the anticipation, as early as 2022, of the works to minimize water losses, announced for 2023.

PSD deputies elected by the Algarve ask the executive to fulfill the promises made so as not to leave farmers alone to face a set of problems that have no end in sight. Added to the effects of the drought are the increase in the price of cereals, fertilizers and fuel.
