Castro Marim: 3 former tax posts receive 16 applications for the Revive Fund

Now follows the phase of analysis of the proposals presented

The properties located in the municipality of Castro Marim – Former Tax Post of Corte Velha, Former Tax Post of Junqueira and Former Tax Post of Belt – received 16 applications for the Revive Natureza Fund.

Now follows the phase of analysis of the proposals presented, with a final decision on them expected by the beginning of June.

The investment in the restoration of the properties will be made by the successful bidders (tenders who are ranked first in each tender) and, according to the Tender Program, they will have a maximum period of two years for the restoration of the properties.

Within the scope of the 40 tenders already closed, 412 applications were submitted and analysed, which shows the great interest on the part of the private sector in the rehabilitation and enhancement of this abandoned heritage for years, but with a high potential for tourist attraction.

The projects associated with the recovery of the 34 properties already awarded provide for the creation of around 140 jobs and an estimated annual revenue of over 380 thousand euros.

Rita Marques, Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services, says that «we entered 2022 even more willing to contribute to a more sustainable, more competitive, more innovative country, promoting nature tourism in Portugal, since the activity of the Fund has developed consistently and has been accompanied by private interest».

The official also believes that «soon, we will all be able to revive these properties and embark on new experiences to get to know the natural, cultural and historical heritage of the territories, given the growth potential associated with the mission of Revive Natureza».
