Silves celebrates World Book and Copyright Day with music and poetry

Silves Municipal Library aims to promote children's reading

A show by Afonso Dias, poetry and music for children are some of the proposals of the Municipal Library of Silves to mark the World Book and Copyright Day, on April 23, the date on which the 14th anniversary of this cultural space is celebrated. .

The initiative will start at 15 pm, with a special music session for children, aimed at children aged 00 to 3 and their parents. The session will be promoted by Sérgio Almeida, in the Hora do Conto room.

Then, at 18:00 pm, the recital “Pela Santa Liberdade” will take place in the auditorium, which will be promoted by Afonso Dias, a well-known intervention singer.

The show “Pela santa Liberdade” presents “poetry and music that overcame the dictatorship, the words and song that mobilized and united wills”.

This event "will remind the public that there was a time of gray and fear and that freedom is the greatest value to be preserved".

The activities are also part of the Commemorations of the 48th Anniversary of the 25th of April with the main mission of promoting reading as a fundamental element to stimulate the imagination, creativity and critical sense of each citizen.
